Digital Wellness

You reach for the phone before you have decided to. In a queue, in a lull, in the flat moment after something difficult — the checking happens first, and noticing it happens later, if at all.

This workbook does not ask you to use your phone less. It asks a better question: what is this behaviour doing for me, and what do I want my attention to serve? Automatic use is usually meeting a real need — connection, reassurance, stimulation, escape, relief from stress, or simply a familiar way to fill an empty moment — and naming the need is what makes it possible to meet it another way.

RESET is the five steps it walks: Recognise the pattern, Explore the function, Shape the environment, Engage with what matters, Tolerate the urge. Design beats willpower, and an urge is a signal rather than an instruction. There is room to write on every page, a boundary to set for work, relationships, sleep, attention and yourself, and a seven-day experiment at the end — think experiment, not perfection.

It is not about rejecting technology, or arriving at a perfect screen-time number. The goal is not to be available to everyone, everywhere, all of the time. It is to be truly available for the moments that matter.

Mental Load to Neural Load Workbook

You are the one who remembers. The appointments, the permission slips, the thing that has to be bought before Thursday — the anticipating, coordinating and quiet monitoring that keeps everyone else’s life running, and that nobody sees you doing.

That work has a cost, and it is not a character flaw. When demands are constant and recovery is scarce, the systems that carry them start to strain: attention fragments, decisions get heavier, and a nervous system that never quite stands down shows up as forgetfulness, indecision and mental fog. Mental load becomes neural load.

This is a practical reflection workbook, and a companion to the presentation “The hidden cost for women holding everything together”. It sets out the science in plain language, then walks five steps you can actually use — Slow down, Pause, Align, Choose, Engage — the SPACE it is named for.

The aim is not to become better at carrying everything. It is to create enough space to choose what deserves to be carried.

The RESTORE Model

Ageing is usually told as a story of decline — memory that slips, thinking that slows, abilities that quietly fall away. Modern neuroscience tells a more interesting one. Processing speed may ease off, but other capacities keep growing: recognising patterns, managing emotions, and turning a lifetime of experience into judgment and perspective.

The RESTORE™ Model is a framework for the conditions that make that possible — seven interconnected foundations of vital ageing: Regulation, Exercise, Sleep, Tending the gut, Others, Reason for living, and Environment.

Drawing on neuroscience, lifestyle medicine and psychological research, this short guide explains how each one reaches the brain — through neural plasticity, hormonal balance, metabolic health and human connection — and why they matter far more together than any one of them does alone.

It is not a guide to preventing decline. It is about the everyday conditions that let you keep living with clarity, emotional steadiness and meaningful involvement as the years pass.
